I can’t agree with “the better person” part, but it shows how different they are. It’s just Damon who doesn’t judge anyone for anything till they don’t hurt the people he loves. 

I think Damon just honestly has faith in people even though he doesn’t like to show it. He knows his brother is still…well his brother and he knows he’ll get over this crap. Stefan didn’t have any faith in Damon in S1 and honestly at all it seems right now. I feel like Damon is the perfect older brother because despite everything he still looks out for him even if Stefan turns around and still puts him down.
